Peach-Palm & Almond Flour

History of Peach-Palm

This fruit botanical name is known as bactris gasipaes and presents impressive
morphological diversity in its wild (Mora-Urpi et al., 1997). Peach-palm was found in
various locations on the coasts of Costa Rica dated as early as 2300 - 1700 BC.
This tropical fruit today is found all over the world in a lot of South American Countries and the Caribbean such as Trinidad and Tobago. The peach -palm tree usually
acquire a height of 65 - 100 ft. and produces 4 - 5 stems of fruit every season weighing
approximately 150 lbs. Other common names for the fruit are pejibaye, chontaduro and pupunha.
